Shelf Life of a Social Media Post

This infographic clearly shows why social media is a waste of time when using social media for marketing or interacting to gain interest in my books. I don't have the desire or inclination to waste my time on this planet as it's a diminishing resource.

I gave up social media in December 2022. I did a total digital detox and I'm so glad I did. I have more time to research and write.

“When content is published online, relevance and engagement have a limited lifespan. An advantageous objective metric is half-life. It’s the amount of time it takes for a post to receive half of its total engagement (such as likes, shares, and comments).”

Thanks to Scott M. Graffius for supplying the data.
